Established in 1925, the Lemon Grove Fire Department offers fire prevention, rescue and emergency medical services. It maintains a staff of more than 20 firefighters, engineers and public education officers. The department features a fleet of frontline fire and reserve engines. It operates a fire prevention bureau that provides plan review, fire safety and construction field inspection services. The Lemon Grove Fire Department attends more than 3,000 fire and emergency calls annually. It works with The Burn Institute to conduct fire extinguishing training sessions. The department is affiliated with the International Association of Fire Fighters and California Professional Fire Fighters. The Lemon Grove Fire Department is operated by the city of Lemon Grove, Calif., which also operates community development, public works and recreation departments.
