The name of this Chinese Christian church may seem a little misleading, considering the dozens of churches there are in Davis. The name comes from certain passages in the Bible, according to the founder of this movement, Ngà Táuk-sng, a leader and writer in the early 20th century, who wrote: "There should be just one church in a city." Thus each "local church" of this orthodox denomination (there are more than 2,000) is named for the city in which it is found.
