This comfortable, friendly storefront on Solano Avenue hosts a Christian Science book store, a reading room and a lending library. Organizers say its purpose is to serve the community, so anyone is welcome to stop by. Visitors to the reading room can relax in comfy chairs, pick up a copy of the latest Christian Science Monitor, meditate, study or chat with librarian Patricia Smith. The reading room has been located on Solano Avenue since 2000, and is a program of the Second Church of Christ, Scientist, Berkeley, which dates back to 1954.
