History
Miller Children's & Women's Hospital Long Beach opened in 1970, with many innovative patient and family centered care features, such as patient rooms to accommodate a parent's overnight stay. Miller Children's opened with 65 active pediatric physicians and surgeons along with services such as an expanded Neonatal Intensive Care Program (NICU), cleft palate program, allergy, ear, nose and throat, endocrine, urology and general surgery. Since then it has grown to cover more than 40 pediatric specialties; has more than 8,000 admissions and sees more than 84,000 outpatient visits a year. A part of OC-based MemorialCare health system, Miller Children's also has three satellite centers to bring pediatric specialty care close to home in Torrance, Fountain Valley and Irvine.
Specialties
A brand-new Children's Specialty Center is open in Irvine in affiliation with Miller Children's & Women's Hospital Long Beach. When a child is diagnosed with an illness or injury, their care is best managed by a physician with extensive training in that area of pediatric health care. Pediatric specialists are experts who have gone through advanced training to care for the unique needs of still developing children and utilize specific techniques to diagnose and treat children and teens. The center has physicians with expertise in a range of specialties, including: * ear, nose and throat * gastroenterology * general surgery * neurology * orthopedics
