The 27,500-square-foot Cerritos Senior Center at Pat Nixon Park is a place for senior citizens to socialize, participate in educational programs, receive human services, and enjoy recreational activities. The beautiful facility is designed to meet the special needs of the city's growing senior population, age 50 and older, and provide a focal point for their community involvement. The center has a craftsman-style lodge design with natural river rock and wood trellises around the exterior, and detailed wood framework on the windows and doors. The facility also has a fitness center with amenities that include: cardiovascular equipment, weight training equipment, locker rooms, restrooms and a conference room for health and wellness meetings. Membership to the senior center fitness center is limited to Cerritos residents, age 50 or older. The fee is $50 per year and can be waived for those seniors proving a need or hardship based on federal income guidelines. All seniors must attend a fitness orientation and submit a completed waiver to qualify for membership.
