The crown jewel of Davis's vast park system features many functional symbols dear to longtime residents. The "Flying Carousel Of The Delta Breeze" is actually bicycle-powered. Beyond sycamore-shaded picnic tables to the south, a raised level expanse serves as a summertime stage for many local singer-songwriters and bands representing Davis's vibrant music scene. Their audiences generally fill the main lawn stretching toward the Farmers Market pavilion. The cement apron skirting these pavilions spurts to life on hot summer days with an otherwise invisible array of unexpected fountains, an irresistable kid-magnet. Jungle gyms and horseshoe pits round out Central Park's interactive attractions.
Along B Street, Central Park Gardens is making a comeback as an educational and kid-friendly resource planted with drought-resistant greenery. Flanking The Farmers Market, The Bicycling Museum and Hattie Weber Museum anchor the south and north ends of Central Park respectively.
