Aptos/La Selva Fire District protects the community of Aptos, Calif., from the risks and consequences of fire, medical, rescue, hazardous material and natural disaster emergencies. It provides well-planned incident response and focused prevention programs and effective public education conducted by a well-trained and well-equipped team. Its prevention activities include promoting installation of fire sprinklers and fire alarms in homes, educating manufacturers, retailers and the public of the use of fireworks, a weed abatement program in spring and summer and tips on maintaining a fire-safe house and garden. Aptos/La Selva Fire District also conducts a community emergency response program, an all-risk, all-hazard training, to prepare families and the neighborhood for an emergency situation.
