This group in Cal's Department of Music was founded in 1987 to explore the interaction of music and technology. Courses offered include Music Perception and Cognition and several courses in computer-music composition. Collaborators include psychologists, physicists, mathematicians and more. Comprised of recording labs, performance spaces, analysis and synthesis facilities, and seminar rooms, CNMAT is headquartered in a homelike space on Arch Street, one block north of campus and across the street from the Pacific School of Religion.
