Founded in 1920, Carson Elementary School serves more than 700 students in kindergarten through grade five. It offers classes in English, art, science, social studies, math, music, foreign languages, and health and physical education. The school additionally provides instructive sessions related to home economics, computer technology, and environmental, agricultural and public service education. It offers special education classes for students with developmental disabilities, as well as coordinates English as a Second Language and Title I programs. The school operates a library that stocks a variety of educational and learning materials. It maintains a parent-teacher-student association that holds regular meetings and conferences. The school also provides guidance counseling sessions. Carson Elementary School is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District, which serves over 680,000 students through nearly 880 elementary, middle and high schools.
