Founded in 1905, The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching is an independent policy and research center. It develops learning tools, ideas and techniques for schools throughout the United States. The foundation has established the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education and provides financial services for low- and middle-income students. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching works in association with community colleges to offer professional and graduate educational programs. It also provides classroom teaching programs for school teachers. The foundation specializes in providing undergraduate education programs in the areas of business, entrepreneurship and liberal learning. In addition, The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has produced more than 400 publications on education and operates an e-library.
