History
Capoeira Brasil was founded in 1989 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 1998, renowned Capoeira master, Mestre Boneco, moved to the United States and opened CBLA; the group's international headquarters. For more than 2 decades, CBLA has hosted classes, community events, cultural and P.E. programs for schools, fitness workshops and festivals lead by Mestre Boneco and his diverse staff of caring, dedicated teachers. Thousands of youth and adults from Los Angeles and around the world have participated in our programming. Our legendary annual International Capoeira Festival is one of the largest of its kind in the United States. We are a community of families, youth and adults committed to training, teaching, and growing the Afro-Brazilian art of Capoeira. With a focus on cultural exchange, wellness, creativity, fitness and, of course, Brazilian culture, CBLA is the ideal place to find a beautiful, diverse community and develop your Capoeira game.
