History
Originally started as a North County branch campus of San Diego State University, California State University was particularized at a CSU school in 1989. In February 1990, ground for the new campus was broken in San Marcos on the site of an old poultry farm. Now, over 20 years later, student enrollment reached an all-time high of 9,767, and the university's 23,000th graduate will cross the stage at spring commencement.
