Luther Burbank Elementary School is committed to putting children first, with the goal of developing students who excel academically, make good choices, are culturally sensitive and display good character. The school has a focus on bilingual education, with a Mandarin/English Dual Language Immersion Program. By the end of fifth grade, students are expected to be able to read, write, listen and speak fluently in the target language. Activities at the school include the Math Field Day, the African-American History Bee, the Year Book Committee, and the 4-Way Essay Contest.
