In 1875 Bergamot Station was a trolley station for the famous Red Line Trolley that ran from downtown L.A. to Santa Monica. After the trains stopped running in 1953, the station saw a lot of residents, from a celery packing plant to a proposed stop on a new light rail. In 1994, the property became the Bergamot Station Arts Center, keeping the industrial look and shape it held over a century earlier. Today the complex houses three main galleries: the James Gray Gallery, the Pier 59 Studios West and the Writer's Boot Camp. Other events, such as author book readings and office parties, also happen here. All spaces are available for rent.
