History
When I first moved to Sonoma County I couldn't find any slow smoked southern barbecue. I already had a high end catering business that specialized in wine country cuisine, so I branched out by buying a Texas barbecue pit to remedy the situation. I added some barbecue menus as a side line and people loved it, especially for rehearsal dinners, so eventually I started a second catering business and called it Barbecue Smokehouse & Catering. That's when people really started to get that we were doing something unique in Sonoma County. In June 2009 we opened the deck of our catering kitchen for restaurant seating. My family and I have worked hard to bring this restaurant to life. I work 16 hour days in the kitchen, my brother Alex is the manager, my wife does the catering sales and our two daughters help out as much as possible. Jessica is still in high school and Ariana helps out whenever she is home from college. We hope you enjoy your experience our little barbeque joint!
Specialties
BBQ Smokehouse & Catering specializes in slow smoked southern barbeque that is smoked with nothing but the heat and smoke of burning hardwood. We are the only barbecue restaurant and catering company in Sonoma County makes authentic southern style barbecue this way. Slow smoked barbecue should not be confused with grilling. In fact the cooking methods are opposite. Grilling is done quickly at high heat over hot coals or open flame at temperatures over 500 degrees. It has a crisp exterior and anyone with a grill can do it. Slow smoked barbecue is done at low temperatures between 190 and 250 degrees for 3 to 18 hours depending on the cut of meat. The fire is in a separate chamber which allows the the meat to cook evenly and become very tender. Meat prepared this way has a smoky flavor and does not have the crisp exterior associated with grilling.
