The Bakersfield FIRE Department, also known as BFD, is governed by the City of Bakersfield in California. The department offers fire suppression, prevention and safety education, as well as emergency medical, swift water rescue, and hazardous material mitigation and regulation services. It also provides disaster planning options. The Bakersfield FIRE Department operates a training division that offers training programs for firefighters. Its training division also provides research and development services to design new training techniques. In addition, the department manages the Emergency Communications Center, which offers dispatching services through more than 65 fire stations, as well as receives calls from various public safety agencies. The Bakersfield FIRE Department has a maintenance division that provides repair and inspection services for hydrants, ladders, air cylinders and new commercial buildings.
