This year is the 100th birthday of the Los Angeles Audubon Society and many special events can be found on its Web site. Since 1937, this small bookstore has been in Plummer Park, and it is filled with beautiful photographs and books about Audubon's history. All of the books are about birds or the environment, and on every second Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m., there are free lectures and events with speakers addressing many environmental issues. Bird walks, field trips, pelagic trips, banquets, and the annual Christmas bird count are just a few of its many recreational programs.
