Established in 1961, Asia America Symphony Orchestra promotes music and cultural exchange, encourages the development of young musicians, and offers a broad variety of activities designed to educate and enrich the diverse communities of Southern California. Based in Rolling Hills Estate, Calif., it fuses the music of east and west in innovative ways and invites new Asian artists as well as prominent ones from abroad, combining performances of jazz and classical compositions within the same program. In addition to this, it introduces traditional Asian instruments into traditional western classical performances in nontraditional ways. Asia America Symphony Orchestra has presented programs from Gershwin to Dvorak, Copland to Mozart, and Bernstein to Beethoven.
