Anna Jean Cummings Park is one of the most popular parks in Santa Cruz County. It opened in 2001 after Soquel neighbors fought to stop a housing development slated for the land. The park's grass soccer fields attract players from Scotts Valley to Watsonville and host leagues from around the county. The trails and walking paths are popular with neighbors and students at adjacent Soquel High School. The modern playground equipment is a family favorite. Four giant sky-blue balls appear to roll down the hill from the athletic fields to the playground parking lot. The concrete balls make up the artwork titled "Skyballs," by Steve Gillman and Katherine Keefer.
