American Youth Soccer Organization is a nonprofit organization that develops and administers youth soccer programs within the United States. It was established in Los Angeles in 1964 with nine teams. Today, the organization has more than 50,000 teams and over 650,000 players. Its VIP Program serves children and adults with visual impairments, autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and physical and mental disabilities. The organization provides training for referee instructors, administrators and assessors. It also runs a child and volunteer protection program, called Safe Haven. The organization s Suit Up program allows regions to support their AYSO brother and sister regions in financial need by providing new and slightly used uniforms. It organizes section conferences, tournaments and national games. American Youth Soccer Organization operates its National Support and Training Center in Hawthorne, Calif.
