Located in Vista, CA, Alchemy Mercantile was formed in 2015 by Taylor Brown, after years of designing and building furniture. We have a mission to create pieces with one of a kind qualities, while making them available to everyone. Using the best materials available, and our hands, we assemble each piece with the utmost attention to function, detail and finish. We think furniture should never be something that you look at, but don't touch. Admire, but are afraid to use. Having studied many Scandinavian philosophies of design and woodworking, we hold true to the fact that less is more. The intention of our pieces isn't to detract from the openness of a room, but rather to add to it. Using open storage and tapered legs to bring a sense of space, we always start our designs by stripping everything away, and adding back only what's needed. Light should always be able to travel freely around a room, and we're firm believers in that. We use details in each piece to not take away from everything else in your space, but rather to be noticed only upon a closer look.
