Operational since 1902, LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired is one of the largest agencies providing direct service, advocacy and information to the blind and visually impaired community of Northern California. Located in San Francisco, it offers rehabilitation programs and access to services, such as employment, recreation, education, information and the environment. Moreover, the company provides programs and services to youths, adults and seniors experiencing varying degrees of vision loss. LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired produces Braille, tactile graphics, audio, and other alternative formats such as Digital Accessible Information System (DAISY), compatible Digital Talking Books (DTB) and electronic text-only versions that include information in narratives, forms, charts, graphs, tables and maps.
