The ACCJC, based in Bel Marin Keys, is one of three commissions under the corporate entity known as the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. This West Coast office oversees accreditation for more than 300 institutions of higher learning.
There are 19 members of the accrediting commission who review college programs throughout the western states and U.S. territories in the Pacific region. Most ACCJC commissioners are former college administrators and many have doctorate degrees. Accreditation is not mandatory for a college, but its credibility depends on it.
