The West Memphis Police Department protects and serves the city of West Memphis, Ark. The administration of the West Memphis Police Department is responsible for administration of the police department as a whole. In addition to the top-level administrators, the department employs personnel who are charged with maintaining the logistical operations of the police department. These operations include purchasing, budgeting, vehicle fleet maintenance, computer and telephone network administration and many other functions that keep the police department operating. The patrol division of the department is the backbone of the police department. The patrol division is comprised of three shifts. Each shift consists of a captain, a lieutenant and a sergeant. The sergeant is a first-line supervisor for patrol officers.
