The Arkansas Department of Correction provides public safety by carrying out the mandates of the courts, as well as provides a safe, humane environment for staff and inmates. It organizes a variety of programs and provides opportunities for spiritual, mental and physical growth. The department supports Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE), which is a program that informs and involves crime victims in important matters related to their cases. The Arkansas Department of Correction also supports an agriculture program that allows inmates to be trained in work habits and allows them to develop marketable skills in the areas of farming, animal husbandry, and vegetable, meat and milk processing. It is accredited by the American Correctional Association and maintains an office in Benton, Ark.
