Established in 1975, the Arkansas Building Authority, formerly known as Arkansas State Building Services, sets policies, guidelines, standards and procedures. The authority is governed by the Arkansas Building Authority Council. It maintains a database of state-owned property and leasing transactions. The Arkansas Building Authority operates a real estate services section that acts as a leasing agent for state agencies to assist with their leasing needs in public and private facilities. In addition, this division assists agencies in the processes involving the sales and purchases of real estate. The authority additionally maintains a construction section that approves and monitors capital improvement projects for state agencies ensuring that the projects conform to state laws and regulations. It maintains a location in Little Rock, Ark.
