The Delta Regional Authority (DRA) is a joint Federal-State collaboration established in 2000 to promote and encourage economic development in the lower Mississippi River and Alabama Black Belt regions. With a focus on economically distressed areas, the DRA invests in projects supporting transportation infrastructure, basic public infrastructure, workforce training, and business development to create jobs, build communities, and improve the lives of residents in the region.
Encompassing 252 counties and parishes across Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee, the DRA's strategic investments aim to address the region's lagging economic growth and high poverty and unemployment rates. By measuring the impact of their investments through outcomes such as jobs created, jobs retained, individuals trained, and families affected, the DRA strives to make a meaningful difference in the Delta region's economic prosperity.
