William H. Spencer founded the Alliance Rubber Company in Alliance, Ohio, in 1923, when he obtained reject Goodyear inner tubes and began cutting bands in his basement. A true visionary, he emphasized continual product improvement, which continues to this day. In 1923, newspapers were blocked and thrown in the general direction of the porch. After seeing the Akron Beacon Journal blowing across lawns, he persuaded them and the Tulsa World to try his bands. These were the first newspapers in the world to use bands on home delivery routes. Alliance products are shipped globally to more than 30 countries. The company has built its reputation by viewing the world from its customer's perspective and creating products of exceptional quality, value and innovation utilizing world-class technology and extensive customer service.
