The Scottsdale Police Department is the law enforcement, crime prevention and investigation activity that protects and serves the residents of Scottsdale, Ariz. In addition to a chief of police, the department is organized into four bureaus: administrative services, personnel development and investigative services, uniformed services and staff commander. The uniformed services bureau is organized into three districts and a special operations division that includes patrol enforcement, traffic enforcement and the detention sections. A professional organization, the department works to make Scottsdale safe and secure and reduce fear of crime for its residents. Through collaborative relationships with the city government and the community, the department recognizes the changing needs of the community and law enforcement's role in addressing those needs. Cameras on city streets have helped Scottsdale improve safety. The city operates fixed speed/red-light cameras and photo enforcement vans. Scottsdale has used photo enforcement on its city streets since 1997.
