The Arizona Department of Public Safety works to protect human lives and property by enforcing state laws, deterring criminal activities, and ensuring highway and public safety. It also provides scientific, technical and operational support to other local and state government agencies, as well as other components of the criminal justice community. The Arizona Department of Public Safety, established in 1969, promotes and enhances the quality of public safety through cooperative enforcement, intelligence gathering, training employees for other law enforcement agencies and increasing public awareness on criminal activities. The department is comprised of highway patrol, agency support, criminal investigations and criminal justice support divisions. It performs duties related to traffic, narcotics, organized crime, racketeering, and liquor and specific regulatory functions. The Arizona Department of Public Safety, with state headquarters in Phoenix, operates more than 30 offices, including one in Tuscan, Ariz.
