The Lake Havasu City Fire Department provides fire suppression, emergency services and educational programs to the City of Lake Havasu in Lake Havasu, Ariz. The department, which has an ISO rating of 3, also has specialized teams able to respond to hazardous materials incidents, as well as technical rescues involving swift water, lakeshore, confined space and desert rescues. It also handles emergency management and planning for the city. The Lake Havasu City Fire Department began as a volunteer department in 1964 and operated out of headquarters located at the old airport on the Island. The department has more than 85 firefighters who are supported by 6 civilian employees. It has five fire stations strategically located throughout the city, which combined cover a response area of approximately 46 square miles.
