The Global Art Project is an international initiative founded by Tucson-based artist Katherine Josten, inviting artists and individuals from around the world to express their ideas of peace and unity through art. Since its inception in 1994, the Project has brought together over 40,000 participants, including art councils, schools, community groups, and youth programs, to create, exhibit, and exchange art that promotes global love and friendship.
With participation confirmed from all seven continents, including Antarctica's McMurdo Base, the Global Art Project aims to create a multicultural expression of peace and connection, culminating in a week-long event in April 2002 where thousands of messages of love and friendship will encircle the Earth. Through personal and community expressions of love, the Project seeks to heal on personal, community, and global levels, fostering a sense of unity and providing exposure to new ideas and cultures.
