Composite Mirror Applications, founded in 1991, designs, prototypes and manufactures custom lightweight optics. Inspired by a challenge to reduce the weight of optics, as well as develop new optical technology, a team of Composite Mirror Applications engineers and technical staff developed precision composite mirror technology for large segmented telescopes, earth and space science research and applications, sensors and instrument technologies space and ground communications, lasers and lidar systems, power generation and transmission and flight simulator/collimated display systems. CMA developed and optimized processes for producing ultra-smooth, high-precision lightweight mirrors for use in visible imaging applications and continues to advance mirror technology for UV and x-ray astronomy as well as LIDAR and partial physics applications. Mirrors manufactured by CMA are fabricated utilizing a proprietary process that is free of fiber and core print-thru and bond lines. CMA is located in Tucson, Ariz.
