Founded in 1868, the City of Klawock has a mayor/council form of government. Based in Klawock, Alaska, it runs and operates a variety of utilities, such as water, wastewater, refuse collection, trailer court, landfill, boat harbor, liquor store and a boat ramp. The city has an airport as well as a float plane dock, two schools and a full-service health care facility. The City of Klawock also has a Totem Park featuring 21 restored original and replica totem poles from the old village of Tuxekan. The park has the largest collection of authentic totem poles in Alaska.
