Ketchikan Public Works Department is one of the several departments governed by the City of Ketchikan in Alaska. The department operates separate divisions for engineering, wastewater treatment, solid waste disposal, building inspections, street maintenance and cemetery administration. The Engineering Division provides administrative and engineering support to City residents and to each of the other operating divisions of Ketchikan Public Works Department. The Wastewater Division is responsible to protect the environment through the effective management, operation and maintenance of the sanitary wastewater system. The Solid Waste Collection Division is responsible for providing safe and efficient collection, disposal and recycling of municipal solid waste, demolition debris and recyclable products. Its Building Inspection Division ensures minimum code compliance standards for all new building construction and alterations to existing structures.
