Chugach Electric Association is a nonprofit, cooperative electric utility company in Alaska that provides power for residents through retail, wholesale and economy energy sales. The association is one of the largest electric utilities in Alaska. It has more than 500 megawatts of installed generation capacity at its power plants in south central Alaska. In addition to its own generation, Chugach Electric Association takes power from the former federal Eklutna hydroelectric project north of Anchorage, Alaska. Chugach Electric Association was incorporated in Alaska in 1948 with funding under the Rural Electrification Act of 1936. It is headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska.
