Association of Village Council Presidents Housing Authority was organized in 1974. It is a state-charted regional housing authority, formed to address housing needs in southwest Alaska. The housing authority provides affordable housing services and programs to eligible individuals and families. The largest program it offers is the mutual help homeownership program, and it also provides low rent housing as well as rental housing for the elderly and handicapped persons. The agency has constructed more than 1,500 homes in over 48 villages. The Association of Village Council Presidents Housing Authority s departments and services include tribal operations, new development, modernization, homeownership program, loan, rental and village allocation programs. AVCP Regional Housing Authority is headquartered in Bethel, Alaska.
