Founded in 1949, the Alaska Telephone Association (ATA) offers accounting, operating, maintenance and construction of telecommunications service to the public. Based in Anchorage, Alaska, it encompasses 591,004 square miles of telephone lines. The trade association comprises of 15 active members certificated by the state regulatory commission and more than 100 associate members. Alaska Telephone Association offers local telephone service in Alaska by commercial, cooperative and municipal telephone utilities. Its serves less than 200 access lines to more than 200,000 lines and maintains service in temperatures from 100 degrees to minus 70 degrees over extreme terrain.
