Tuscaloosa Community Dancers (TCD) is a non-profit dance company based in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Since its establishment in 1971, TCD has been dedicated to stimulating, promoting, and developing interest in the art of dance through performances, education, master classes, and outreach programs. With over 40 years of history, TCD is best known for its annual production of the beloved holiday classic, The Nutcracker, which has grown from a condensed version to a full-length production that has become a favorite in West Alabama.
Throughout the years, TCD has formed cultural partnerships with major arts organizations in Tuscaloosa, including the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, Theatre Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa Community Singers, and the Arts Council. These collaborations have resulted in the production of various favorites such as Amahl and the Night Visitors, Peter and The Wolf, The Music Man, The King and I, and the full-length ballet Giselle. TCD has also received grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts, allowing the organization to expand its programs and provide compensation to key positions. With the support of the community, TCD continues to offer exceptional dance instruction, performance opportunities, and outreach initiatives to the dancers and students of West Alabama.
