Founded in 1935, the Alabama Department of Human Resources is a state department that offers foster care and adoption services, as well as handles legislative issues. Located in Florence, Ala., the department enforces child support by establishing paternity and collecting, distributing and fulfilling support orders. Its financial assistance program includes job training and child care assistance services. The Alabama Department of Human Resources also offers the Food Stamp Program, which includes the serving of edible food items to low-income individuals and families.
