Formed in 1903, from portions of Henry, Dale as well as Geneva counties, Houston County is one of the youngest counties in Alabama. Based in Dothan, Ala., the county is into the field of agriculture, where it grows peanuts, cotton and corn being one of the most principal crops. Houston County is also engaged in growing small grains, melons and vegetables. Beef cattle, hogs and dairy cattle are the main livestock activity in the county.
