The American Baseball Foundation (ABF) is a non-profit organization based in Birmingham, AL, dedicated to using the power of baseball to promote academic success and personal development among at-risk students. Through their BASIC (Baseball Academic Skills Instructional Course) program, they have successfully helped students in grades one through eight improve their reading and math skills, with an average gain of 2.4 months in reading and 3.8 months in math. The program combines academic instruction with sports activities, fostering teamwork, cooperation, and perseverance in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Since 2021, the BASIC summer program has served nearly 300 children from 80 different schools across Central Alabama, consistently producing significant academic gains.
