Porcupine Opportunities Program (POP) is a community-based and community-governed organization in operation since 1974, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities in Porcupine Plain and Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan. With residential, vocational, and recreational support services, POP serves approximately thirty adults with disabilities through group homes, supported living spaces, a vocational program, and various community enterprises.
Recently, POP received $805,000 in funding from the Government of Canada to renovate and expand its industrial wood workshop in Porcupine Plain. This investment will allow POP to enhance vocational opportunities for individuals with disabilities by adding new workspaces, updating equipment, and introducing a specialized area for crafting small wood projects for sale, further contributing to the economic growth and diversification of the community.
