Nelson Fire & Rescue Service is dedicated to serving the community of the City of Nelson by protecting life, property, and the environment. Operating out of one of Western Canada's oldest fire halls built in 1913, the department responds to an average of 1,200 emergency incidents annually, including fires, motor vehicle accidents, and hazardous materials incidents.
Under the leadership of the Fire Chief, the department consists of career members and on-call auxiliary firefighters who are all highly trained and certified. With a fleet of specialized apparatus, Nelson Fire & Rescue Service provides a range of emergency services, fire prevention programs, and public outreach initiatives to ensure the safety and well-being of the city and surrounding areas.
