The Lumby Museum is spearheading the Lumby Fire Truck Restoration Project, dedicated to restoring a 1947 American LaFrance fire truck that served the communities of Lavington, Lumby, and Cherryville until the late 1980s. Rediscovered in 2018 and previously owned by the Oakes family of Fintry, BC, this project aims to preserve a piece of local firefighting history.
Supported by the staff and municipal government of Lumby, as well as Scrap Pappy and the Harris family, the Lumby Museum is grateful for the community's contributions towards this significant restoration effort. Through their blog and donation opportunities, they invite individuals to be part of reviving this iconic fire truck for future generations to appreciate.
