Rewinding back to over 30 years ago, Sawat Panyo, the cook, had learned how to cook Thai food from her mother, Chareon. Sawat spent her entire teenage life to accumulate experiences in cooking different Thai dishes then opened her own restaurant soon after in her hometown. Popular dishes include Pad Thai, Green Curry, and Stir-fried Hot Basil along with Thai desserts like Mango Sticky Rice and homemade Coconut Milk Ice Cream, which received overwhelming attention and the food was sold out within a short period of time almost everyday. Fifteen years later, Sawat moved to Edmonton with her family, but the passion for cooking has never been away from her. She started working in different restaurants over the years to gain more experiences and learn new cooking techniques. When the right time and opportunity have come together, Sawat decided to open a Thai restaurant here in Edmonton with the intention to inherit Thai food; therefore, Bangkok Kitchen was founded.
